It’s with a saddened heart that we write this to tell you, Laced Magazine is going on permanent hiatus.
It all started with a janky, black and white, stapled zine that was personally handed out on front valley which grew into a full blown vibrant magazine spreading around the globe. It’s been one hell of a ride! For us, these books have formed friendships, created opportunities, cemented memories and evolved our stoke for snowboarding.
Laced was always a platform for those who deserved their story to be heard, whom might not otherwise get the chance. A publication aiming to inspire and generate culture within our down under scene. We never had an end goal for this. The idea was to quit when it sent us broke or it stopped being fun to create. While it definitely sent us broke, the fun outweighed the moneys. Who would have thought it was neither of these two to be the demise.
We believe this is a magazine for the people by the people and we believe that the people deserve an explanation for its disbanding. Unfortunately and fortunately, sometimes life takes a big fat toe turn.. Simply put, we aren’t around the mountains like we used to be. We won’t be immersed in the environment we love so much anymore. Our pages wouldn’t be filled with the quality of what they are now. Laced grew to something we could never have imagined and being unable to engross ourselves in the snow, wouldn’t do it injustice. So it’s time to quit while we’re ahead. Call it dropping out, call it growing up, whatever you like. Although it’s a sad end to an era, we want you to know that we are happy with our life’s turns. Although it’s a sad end to an era, we want you to know that we are happy with our life’s turns. It may be all said and done but we are glad we did it. Better to have loved and lost than not loved at all..? It’s been an absolute trip making this happen. We will continue to board as much as we can. It might not be everyday now but we will never stop snowboarding. This shit is too fun!
There are a ridiculous amount of humans we have the upmost gratitude for helping Laced along the way. If you’re reading this thinking it might be you, it is! 🙏🙏🙏
We would like to thank anyone we have ever worked with, collaborated with, rode mountains with, walked ridge lines with, partied with, laughed with, swapped stories with, endured injuries with, created with, shared a chair with, slapped a sticker, got a tattoo, told a friend, read the words, gawked at photos, got hyped, went shredding and every single one of you lords and legends that has supported Laced in any way over the years.
Big love snowboarding 💛
